Jaedong “Jaedong” Lee is retiring after this year’s BlizzCon, according to this announcement on Evil Geniuses’ website. It will come as a surprise to many, as Jaedong had dispelled rumors about his return to SC:BW this July, saying it was unsubstantiated.
Jaedong made his debut a decade ago as a SC:BW Zerg player for Lecaf OZ in 2006, winning his first major tournament - an OSL, no less - in the following year. He went on to form a legendary rivalry with Youngho “Flash” Lee and become one of the best players to have ever played Starcraft. In 2012, Jaedong made the move to North American organization Evil Geniuses and continued his illustrious Starcraft 2 career.
After announcing retirement, he tweeted to his fans, expressing his appreciation and asking them not to forget him. His future plans have not yet been revealed, although some are expecting him to officially return to SC:BW within the year.
