Korea yet to drop a single map: OWC group stage results

The opening week of the 2016 Overwatch World Cup ended today. 16 teams competed in the group stage, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.

In Group A, Spain showed outstanding performances to defeat every other team - Sweden, Brazil, and Canada - in the group and advance first. Their 2-1 victory over Sweden was particularly interesting, as Sweden were said to have the lead in individual talent. Group B saw the unexpected rise of Russia as they took down Germany and Chile by 2-0, USA by 2-1.

Korea swept every team in Group C including Australia, Taiwan, and Finland by 2-0, advancing to the quarterfinals without dropping a single map. The victory over Finland was especially noticeable, as Finland were considered one of the favorites to win the entire tournament; it was a shockingly dominant showing from Korea, including an Objective A hold on Temple of Anubis. Group D featured a three-way tie between China, France, and Thailand, from which the first two advanced.

The quarterfinals will be played on November 4th, 12:15 to 18:15 PDT, with the semifinals following immediately on the same day. The Bronze Medal Match and the Grand Finals will be held on the next and last day of BlizzCon, starting from 10:00 PDT.
