Faker breaks record as the first League player to earn over $1 million in prize money

SKT T1 mid laner Sang-hyeok “Faker” Lee has become the first League player in the world to have earned over $1 million in prize money.

According to Esportsearnings, a website that tracks player earnings, Faker participated in 35 tournaments, including the recent 2017 Mid-Season Invitational, and accrued $1,047,606. His earnings place him in 1st place in Korea and 28th in the world.

Among the top 50, Seong Ung “Bengi” Jae (38th), Wan “Wolf” Lee (43th), and Jun Sik “Bang’ Bae (44th) follow Faker as three SKT T1 players who won Worlds. For StarCraft, Jae Dong “Jaedong” Lee is the highest earning player, with $621,711 in 64th place.

The title of player with the highest overall earnings in the world went to Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora, whose total earnings come out to a whopping $2,802,796.
