Riot Games Launches Legends Ascend South Asia With LCP Wildcard Slot

Riot Games on Wednesday announced the launch of Legends Ascend South Asia, a new online amateur tournament for League of Legends teams across South Asia that will award a spot in the League of Legends Championship Pacific Wildcard Playoffs.

Produced in partnership with Aftermath Ventures, the event kicks off April 27 and spans four months. It will include three open qualifying rounds, a round-robin league stage and double-elimination playoffs. Tournament infrastructure will feature official match observers, referees and statistical tracking to uphold competition standards. Organizers have allocated a prize pool of INR 1 million, and the champion will secure a place in the LCP Wildcard Playoffs, vying for entry to the League of Legends Championship Pacific circuit.

Participants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives may register starting April 27. Registration for the first qualifier runs through May 3, with matches set for May 4–11. The next two qualifiers will follow week-long schedules, wrapping up by early June. The league stage is slated for June 13–July 20, with playoffs scheduled July 25–August 3.

All matches will run on the current live patch and adhere to Riot’s official tournament rule set, maintaining consistency with professional standards. A pre-tournament online orientation will guide participants through technical requirements, bracket procedures and conduct guidelines. Teams must complete matches within scheduled windows to avoid disqualification.

The competition structure is designed to reward strategic consistency and performance, with each phase building toward high-stakes matchups that may highlight underdog narratives and emerging talent. Aftermath Ventures will host broadcasts on its FragNation YouTube channel, deploying professional-grade production and weekend live streams to engage viewers across the region. Live coverage begins May 4, offering a regular cadence of competitive action.

Riot Games has rolled out similar grassroots initiatives in Southeast Asia and Latin America to fuel talent development and create pipelines into professional leagues. Legends Ascend South Asia mirrors established regional competitions in North America and Europe, giving participants experience with professional-style scheduling and match preparation.
