IEM Rio 2024: World’s Best CS2 Teams Compete for Glory in Brazil

Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio 2024 will bring together 16 top-tier Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) teams from October 7-13 in Rio de Janeiro. Competing for a $250,000 prize pool, teams will also aim to advance in the Intel® Grand Slam V race. The tournament, organized by ESL FACEIT Group, will be the final IEM event of the year and offers a key qualification opportunity for the 2025 ESL Pro Tour.

The tournament will begin with the group stage from October 7-9, where 16 teams will battle in double-elimination brackets. The top three teams from each group will progress to the playoffs. The playoffs, held on October 11-12, will feature six teams competing in a single-elimination format. The grand finals, scheduled for October 13, will determine the winner, who will take home $100,000 and an automatic spot in the 2025 ESL Pro Tour.

The lineup includes reigning champions Team Vitality, Brazilian favorites FURIA Esports, and notable squads like Astralis, FaZe Clan, and Team Liquid. The talent lineup features hosts like Stunna and Freya, with renowned analysts and casters guiding viewers through the event.

In celebration of Brazilian Counter-Strike culture, ESL has teamed up with artist Arlin Graff to create a mural in Rio's Jacarepaguá neighborhood honoring esports legend Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. Fans can catch the action on ESL’s Twitch and YouTube channels or via FACEIT Watch, which offers a customizable viewing experience.
