Sour Lemon Studios announced Tuesday that its upcoming game Tower of Dreams will be available in Early Access on Steam starting October 8, with a Nintendo Switch release expected to follow soon after.

Tower of Dreams is a roguelike platformer that puts players in the role of the Dream Knight, a character tasked with scaling the titular tower while battling enemies and navigating a variety of obstacles. Players will utilize mechanics such as wall jumps and timed attacks as they progress through randomized stages.

The game features retro-inspired pixel art, taking design cues from the Game Boy Color era, and offers a limited 13-color pastel palette. The tower is divided into multiple floors, each with its own unique aesthetic and challenges, from fantasy-themed environments to factory settings.

Sour Lemon Studios said Tower of Dreams includes over 30 collectible items and cosmetics, allowing players to customize their character while unlocking new abilities. It also offers a performance grading system for each stage, and a “Nightmare Mode” for those seeking an even tougher challenge.

The game’s soundtrack draws inspiration from titles like Kirby’s Adventure and Sonic CD, aiming to complement the fast-paced platforming gameplay with upbeat, energetic tunes.

Tower of Dreams will be available for early access through Steam, with a full release date and additional platforms to be announced at a later time.
