On May 18th (PDT), Blizzard Entertainment announced that PC version of Destiny 2, developed by Bungie, will be exclusively available via Battle.net.
Blizzard shared that they have been cooperating with Bungie and Activision for "a new network client for Destiny 2", which includes sharing the "existing global network" to shorten the development period of Destiny 2 as much as possible.
As a result, Blizzard revealed that the PC version of the game will be exclusively available in Blizzard App. This will allow players to use Blizzard Balance to purchase the game, have cross-game communication between Battle.net friends and ability to stream the game via Facebook.
Although Destiny 2 will be the first third-party game to be featured in Battle.net, the announcement made clear that there are no other third-party games being considered on the platform. Also, the servers for the game itself will still be operated by Bungie, and only the login and social functionality will use Blizzard's servers.
Further details, including when and where the game will be released, will be announced later this year.
