A Cat as Your Boss? Krafton’s Booth Showcases Three Titles at Gamescom 2024

At Gamescom 2024, held in Cologne, Germany, from August 21 to 25, Krafton presented three of its titles: Dark and Darker Mobile, inZOI, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. The company’s B2C booth attracted visitors from around the world, offering a preview of their games.

One of the highlights of the Krafton booth was inZOI, where a cat descending from the sky captured the attention of attendees. In this simulation, the attendees assume the role of trainees at AR Company, where they take an elevator to the office to begin their tasks. The experience starts with creating a trainee ID badge, followed by managing a city and its inhabitants. Within this scenario, a cat serves as the boss, guiding and supervising the players’ activities.

Visitors had the opportunity to try inZOI for approximately 30 minutes, with each participant receiving an AR Company ID badge and a goodie bag containing a notebook, pen, mousepad, and stress ball. Krafton also offered a roulette event for those who completed three missions, including a social media posting challenge. Participants who completed all tasks were rewarded with additional memorabilia, such as T-shirts, water bottles, and keyrings.

It was anticipated that inZOI would appeal primarily to female gamers. However, the reality at the event was different, with a significant number of male gamers lining up to try the game. These players were particularly engaged in the character customization process, carefully crafting avatars that either resembled themselves or mimicked popular game characters. Their enthusiasm was evident as they actively inquired about the game's features, demonstrating a strong interest in its mechanics.

One gamer, after completing the demo, commented, “It’s similar to The Sims, but inZOI offers a broader range of features, allowing for more creative freedom.”

Across from the inZOI booth, the Dark and Darker Mobile demo station offered an experience deeply rooted in the game’s dark fantasy world. Designed with a Forgotten Castle theme, the booth created an immersive atmosphere, with an entrance that gave visitors the sensation of stepping into a dungeon. The setting was further enhanced by thematic decorations that captured the essence of Dark and Darker Mobile, and even the staff were dressed in wizard costumes, adding to the ambiance.

The booth featured 90 demo stations, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, ensuring that all attendees could try the game in a comfortable environment. Each session lasted about 20 minutes, and every participant received a wizard hat as a souvenir. Dark and Darker Mobile also hosted a roulette event, offering additional prizes such as board games, cloaks, and tavern-style wooden mugs.

The Dark and Darker Mobile booth attracted not just adult gamers but also families, many of whom enjoyed the experience together. It was common to see families leaving the booth, smiling and wearing their wizard hats, clearly enjoying the experience.

Between the inZOI and Dark and Darker Mobile booths, Krafton set up a PUBG event area. Here, visitors could participate in a shooting event, with prizes awarded based on their scores. On the opposite side, attendees could admire cosplay of iconic PUBG characters and take photos in a specially designed photo zone.

Krafton's booth at Gamescom 2024 offered a diverse range of experiences across multiple genres, providing visitors with a variety of entertainment options. The photos below capture the atmosphere and excitement of their showcase.
