Riot Games Reveals Teamfight Tactics: Magic n’ Mayhem Update

Riot Games announced the latest update for its flagship PC strategy game, Teamfight Tactics (TFT), titled "Magic n’ Mayhem." The new content, featuring the magical realm of the Magitorium, will be available on both PC and mobile platforms starting July 31, 2024, free of charge for all players.

The announcement came during the TFT Tactician’s Crown Finals on July 14, where Riot Games provided a sneak peek into the update. Highlights include new gameplay mechanics, traits, Augments, and three new champions. Additionally, Riot Games revealed that the next global LAN event for TFT will take place in Macao, China, from December 13-15, 2024.

"Magic n’ Mayhem" will introduce several beloved champions from other Riot Games titles. Norra, a popular character from Legends of Runeterra, will join TFT as a duo with Yuumi. League of Legends champions Briar and Smolder will also make their first appearance in the game. The update will also feature the Chrono skin line, originally known as Stargazer in Riot’s mobile game, League of Legends: Wild Rift.

A notable addition in "Magic n’ Mayhem" is the new gameplay mechanic, Charms—single-use purchasable spells that add a layer of strategic depth. With over 100 Charms available, players can enhance their gameplay by utilizing various magical abilities to gain combat power, boost economy, disrupt opponents, amplify traits, and more.

“With its whimsical feel, vibrant color scheme, and lighthearted champions, Magic n’ Mayhem captures the upbeat vibes of the summer season,” said Sam Judd, Set Lead Designer for Magic n’ Mayhem at Riot Games. “We wanted to create a place for players to embrace their creativity and prove their mastery over various spellcrafts alongside champions they know and love. We’re looking forward to opening the doors to the Magitorium!”

Returning fan-favorite characters include Faerie champion Milio, Dragon champions Nomsy and Shyvana from previous TFT sets, and more. The update will feature 27 traits, 60 champions, and over 200 Augments, including new High-Stakes Augments that add a high-risk, high-reward element to the game. Players can also look forward to new Tacticians, including Lumie and variants of existing Little Legends, as well as four new Chibi champions and the premium Le Bunny Bonbon Bistro arena.

“Magic n’ Mayhem embodies TFT’s commitment to experimenting with innovative themes and cross-game collaborations while preserving its top-notch core gameplay experience,” said Peter Whalen, Game Director for Teamfight Tactics at Riot Games. “We’re excited to watch our players demonstrate their magical talents and discover some fun surprises along the way.”
