On Jun. 22, in the 2023 LCK Summer Split, Gen.G defeated DRX 2-0 without much trouble. With the win, Gen.G continued their undefeated streak, extending their win streak to five, and solidifying their position in 1st place. After the match, head coach Go “Score” Dong-bin and top laner Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon joined the media for an interview.
Congrats on the 5-game winning streak. How do you feel?
Score: We’ve been winning since the season started, and I hope we can keep the pace up. I’m happy that we were able to continue it today.
Doran: I’m confident now, since we haven’t lost. I believe we’ll be able to play better.
Gen.G’s performance today was almost flawless. Is there any feedback?
Score: Today’s match was quite one-sided, and we won smoothly. I don’t think there’s much to give.
Which moment was the most satisfying?
Score: Doran solo-killing Rascal two straight games was impressive.
(To Doran) Did you expect such a one-sided game?
Doran: I didn’t think there would be much of a variable unless we made a huge mistake. Our laning was better than usual, and I’m really satisfied with that.
Your next opponent is Dplus KIA. What’s the key point of that match?
Score: In the remaining 1st round, Dplus KIA is the team we’re looking out for the most. ShowMaker has been practicing the Statikk Shiv build a lot in solo queue. I’ll keep an eye on that.
Can the Statikk build be used in the top lane too?
Doran: It appears from time to time during practice, but I don’t think it’s as efficient as when it’s used in the mid lane. If it becomes more efficient, I’ll use it.
You’ll be facing Canna. How do you think it’ll go?
Doran: I’m not too aware of who I face. I just aim to show my best performance in official games.
After defeating T1, you said you weren’t satisfied with your own performance. How satisfied are you now?
Doran: I’m not 100% satisfied with today’s match too. I’m still recovering. If I keep working hard, I believe I can return to my best form.
