SKT defeats G2 Esports with flawless macro plays in the first match of MSI 2017 Group Stage

On May 10th (PDT) in Rio de Janerio, Brazil; Mid-Season Invitational 2017 resumed with the match between SK Telecom T1 and G2 Esports. SKT T1 defeated G2 with well-executed macro plays worthy of the best team in the world.

As soon as the game begun, G2 Esports caught Faker in the mid lane bush and scored First Blood for Trick. As Faker used Flash at the start of the game, both junglers stayed nearby the mid lane in anticipation of a follow-up attack.

Trick scored another kill against SKT T1. As SKT's botlane duo was left without summoner spells, Trick used the opportunity to kill Wolf during the skirmish in the bot lane. Soon, G2 Esports closed in on SKT's bot lane duo again and scored the first turret kill.

SKT launched a counterattack through macro plays by taking down both top and bottom inner turrets. SKT was ahead on gold even with just a single kill against G2.

SKT tried to get ahead by scoring a kill against Perkz and luring G2 to a Baron fight. However, it was G2 that had better macromanagement as they took down SKT's inner bottom turret.

After a long standoff, SKT tipped the balance by demolishing both mid lane turrets. Without the turrets, SKT soon scored a kill against Perkz and Trick, and SKT was free to take the Baron.

With the Baron buff, SKT didn't hesitate to lay waste on G2's base. SKT took down bottom inhibitor and mid inhibitor turret. Even without the buff, SKT maintained pressure and finished off the inhibitor while scoring a kill.

In the end, SKT took down the Elder Dragon and Baron, and it didn't take long before SKT destroyed all three inhibitors and G2's Nexus, ending the game.
