On Oct 13, Riot Games announced updates with regards to the ongoing 2022 LoL World Championships. They announced that multiple players, coaches, and staff participating in the group stages of the tournament have tested positive for COVID-19.
Per ruleset, Riot Games will implement the same system as they did in the play-in stages. Players tested positive who are able to play will participate from a remote, isolated facility. They also announced that because of such, it may affect the match schedule.
Teams from group A, the ones that have their matches on day 5, also made announcements via their social media platforms. T1’s players and coaches have all tested negative, while EDward Gaming announced that their mid laner, Lee “Scout” Ye-chan, have tested positive and will practice and play his matches remotely.
DWG KIA from group B have also announced that their jungler, Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu has tested positive. Additionally, Gen.G [group D] announced that their mid laner, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, as well as their coaching staff, Go “Score” Dong-bin & Kim “Museong” Mu-seong have tested positive as well, and will be going into quarantine.
