It's no secret that the support is a very humbling position. Amongst the greatest, though, they can shine with anyone. With how impactful AD carries have been this year, and with how many skilled AD carries there have been throughout 2022, and is imperative to have a strong player in this position. Thankfully for many teams — they've been able to supply that need. Fans have the opportunity to watch players young and old compete for the position of the being the best support in the world.
Here is Inven Global’s ranking of the best supports going into the 2022 World Championship:
5. Lou "Missing" Yun-Feng — JD Gaming
Missing is finally getting his moment. Though only experiencing success in the LPL over the last year and a half, JD Gaming's support comes into 2022 Worlds with a strong amount of momentum. Missing had a solid run throughout LPL 2022 Spring, and managed to win his first LPL championship coming into the tournament. He still manages to excel despite having a bot lane partner not as strong as some of the other top support players, and has strong stat sheets individually throughout the year. Not only did he have one of the highest KDAs of any support, but he was able to attain the highest amount of assists as well.
4. Shi "Ming" Sen-Ming — Royal Never Give Up
Everyone knows how good Ming can be, and everyone knows that Ming has been unlucky in never really peaking during Worlds. The veteran champion has built strong cohesion with his bot lane partner Chen "GALA" Wei — the two easily one of the strongest duos in the world. Though he hasn't shown to be as sharp throughout the last few months as some of the other players mentioned, his experience and talent as a player should never be discounted — Ming is always someone to look out for.
3. Tian "Meiko" Ye — EDward Gaming
The defending World Champion support definitely has a lot going for them. Meiko is capable in nearly every facet of the game — his playmaking is solid, his team fighting is smart, and he has a strong understanding of every player on his team. Individually, he stood high in many statistical categories. The only problem with Meiko — he has to stand in Park "Viper" Do-hyeon's shadow. It's quite easy to look good playing next to such an elite AD carry — Meiko is able to relax a bit more than some of the other players mentioned.
2. Ryu "Keria" Min-seok — T1
It hasn't been as fun of a time for T1 fans as it once was. Earlier in the year, Keria and his young bot lane partner in crime Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong looked like potentially one of the greatest bot lane duos in history. After MSI 2022 and the struggles the team experienced in the summer, though, opinions have changed. However, Keria has still maintained his presence as one of the best players in the world — and is one of the brightest points of his team.
1. Son "Lehends" Si-woo — Gen.G
Gen.G's bot lane has been phenomenal. While Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk doesn't live up to the same standard as Viper (he comes quite close), Lehends acts as an equalizer to make for one of the most threatening combinations in current League esports. His champion pool is great, he's always impactful throughout every stage of the game, and he consistently sets up Ruler to be a dangerous threat in-game.
