On day 15 of the 2022 LCK Summer split, kt Rolster defeated Hanwha Life Esports 2-0 in the second match of the day. With their victory tonight over HLE, KT is now 6th place in the standings, with a 2-4 record in the regular split.
Following their victory, Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang joined the press room for a post-match interview.
Tonight’s match was an important one for KT. How do you feel about the victory?
I’m thrilled that we won such an important match tonight. It feels like there’s nothing left to do but to play well in the future, so I’ll have to work harder.
You got registered again in the main roster. What have you been up to during that time?
I had to go back home due to personal reasons. Even when I was at home, I tried not to lose my form by playing solo queue.
It seems as if you’ll be continuing to compete with Aria for the starting spot on the roster. What can you tell us about starting tonight against HLE?
After I returned from home, I played a lot of scrims; I think the coaching staff told me to start tonight based on my results.
It was notable how you pushed OnFleek out of the Baron pit in game 1.
It was Cuzz’s call. He told everyone to keep Lee Sin out, so I just kept my eye on him.
Although there are matches that you haven’t played, KT’s teamwork seems very shaky overall.
We keep making mistakes in the most important moments of the game, like in teamfights. We focus our practice and feedback on how not to make mistakes in those important moments.
KT faces Nongshim RedForce and Kwangdong Freecs next week. What are your thoughts on competing against those teams for a spot in the middle of the standings?
They are very important. Not only do we fight to secure our spot in the middle of the standings, we also fight for momentum to push towards the top. I think we can beat them with fun picks like we showcased tonight.
Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say?
We still have a lot of matches ahead of us. KT’s known to become stronger in the Summer, so we’ll make sure we live up to that reputation.
