On June 23, Nongshim RedForce faced Kwangdong Freecs in the 2022 LCK Summer Split. It was the first win of the season for the former, as they managed to get a 2-0 win. After the match, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong joined the media for a brief interview.
How do you feel about today’s win?
While we prepared for today’s match, we jokingly said that we’ll be doomed if we lost today. It’s a relief that we won.
Are you satisfied with your performance today?
Maybe it’s because we lost so many times recently, I’ve been getting nervous when I play. I could have played better in the laning phase, so that’s a bit regretful. On the other hand, our team played quite well, and we made good decisions in general. It wasn’t perfect, but I’m quite satisfied with that.
What was the problem during the first two matches?
When we had to make decisions, we were messy. We have to move as one when we’re attempting something, but our teamwork wasn’t good enough, so we lost games that we should have won.
What’s your goal for the season?
Before today’s match, I thought we were in the lower half, but since we won today, if we all play decisively with confidence, we can make it to the playoffs. My first goal is to reach the playoffs. If we make the playoffs, my next goal is to get one of the four Worlds tickets.
In a preseason interview, you said that last spring was the season that you doubted yourself the most. Have you recovered some faith and confidence in yourself?
It comes and goes every day. I play pretty well during practice, but when I play in official matches, I start to rush. Recently, I’ve been trying to believe in myself more.
Do you think you’ll be able to recover your confidence by the end of summer?
I’m not sure, but I’ll need to try.
Irene joined the team as the new head coach. How is he?
Irene tries to spend as much time as possible with the players. When we review our plays, he comes around and talks with us, giving his opinions. He’s a very passionate person.
How’s the Ahri-Lissandra matchup? Ahri’s been selecting Unsealed Spellbook recently.
When the durability patch hit, some matchups were balanced. The Ahri-Lissandra matchup is one of them, but if the two players have the same prowess, I believe Lissandra has the edge.
