Evil Geniuses have announced a role swap within their coaching staff just before the start of the 2022 LCS Summer Split. Han "Rigby" Earl was Evil Geniuses' assistant coach in the LCS Spring Split and Gabriel "Turtle" Peixoto was the head coach, but now, Rigby will be the head coach and Turtle will be the assistant coach.
This is the second shift in positions EG have made to their coaching staff this season. Before the 2022 LCS Lock In began, Peter Dun was the head coach for the squad with Turtle as the assistant coach. However, when the season began, Peter Dun was no longer in an on-stage role and instead was promoted to a new position, Head of Coaching Staff. As a result, Turtle was promoted to head coach and simultaneously, Rigby was brought on as assistant coach.
EG made the swap public via Twitter on the morning of the first day of the 2022 LCS Summer Split.
"We are confident that this change further enables our staff to focus in on their individual strengths and set our organization as a whole up for success," EG stated in a follow-up tweet.
Aside from the swap in roles, Evil Geniuses' roster remains the same as it was at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational, which is a trend with many top teams. 100 Thieves and Team Liquid, who came in second and third in the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, respectively, also made no changes to their starting roster or coaching staff.
FlyQuest, who came in fifth in the postseason, also made no changes heading into the Summer Split. Counter Logic Gaming, who missed the LCS Spring Playoffs with an eighth place finish in the Spring Split, also has chosen to run it back this summer. Every other team in the LCS made at least one roster change heading into the Summer Split, but no coaching staff changes sans Golden Guardians positional coach Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes reprising his role as the team's starting AD carry.
