Chinese robotics company GREATMETAL, lead by roboticist Shiqian Sun, just finished and debuted their first prototype of a giant fighting robot called Monkey King at G-Festival in Beijing alongside the MegaBots Mk.II. The Monkey Kingis a quadrupedal, single-seater giant fighting robot that will be able to move on all fours, or stand up on two legs to fight with a staff!
MegaBots just won LAUNCH Festival, the largest startup event in the world, for its plans to create an international Giant Fighting Robot Sports League. MegaBots is currently evaluating whether GREATMETAL has what it takes to become the first Chinese team in the MegaBots international Giant Fighting Robot Sports League.
MegaBots is considering whether or not to fight the Monkey King after fighting the world's first Giant Robot Duel with Suidobashi Heavy Industries(between the MegaBots Mk.III robot and Suidobashi's KURATAS robot) in August of 2017. The pictures below are of the Monkey King prototype next to the MegaBots Mk.II robot at the G-Festival in Beijing, outside the Birds Nest Olympic Stadium.
