TSM have confirmed the signing of South Korean support Choi “Mia” Sang-in. Mia, a veteran of the LLA scene who most recently competed for Estral Esports this past spring, will be the new starting support for TSM Academy.
This leaves the future of TSM supports Wang "Yursan" Sheng-Yu and Wei "Shenyi" Zi-Jie unknown. While Yursan did make a few starts in the LCS, he spent most of his time on TSM Academy. The plan for TSM in the LCS Summer Split could be to retain Shenyi as the starting support while signing Mia as a potential insurance pick. In addition, Mia may be a great veteran presence to have around 17-year old TSM Academy AD carry Tony "Instinct" Ng.
The move comes one day after TSM announced they were parting ways with mid laner Zhu "Keaiduo" Xiong.
Keiaduo joined TSM ahead of the 2022 season with only experience from China's secondary league, the LDL, and despite showing strong mechanics, never seemed to click with the rest of TSM's roster in a competitive context.
TSM Academy mid laner Ji "Takeover" Cha Hyeun-min was promoted to the LCS in favor of Keaiduo for the second half of the 2022 LCS Spring Split. Speaking of mid lane, reports are also pointing towards TSM looking to sign veteran mid laner Huang "Maple" Yi-Tang ahead of the LCS Summer Split. Maple boasts a storied career with many PCS titles and international apperances, but has struggled outside of his home region.
Maple went for his second stint in the LPL with Anyone's Legend after a disappointing two years on Suning and LNG Esports from 2019-2020, respectively.
On AL, Maple had arguably the worst split of his entire career and was benched in favor of Deng "Forge" Jie for the majority of the 2022 LPL Spring Split. He left the team on April 10.
