Lunatic-Hai has announced on their official website that a new Seventh Man will be joining the team. Geonho ‘Claris’ Lee and Sangbum ‘Munchkin’ Byun, the original Seventh Man candidates for the team, had their ‘recruitment canceled by mutual consent,’ and ‘Gido,’ who came 3rd place in the tryouts, will be joining Lunatic-Hai.
Last Friday, April 21st, Lunatic-Hai had announced Claris and Munchkin as their new Seventh Men for their team. However, in the process, Munchkin was found to be the same person as ‘은평구꽃사슴,’ a player notorious for his extremely crude behavior, such as swearing at other players. Munchkin posted an apology for his past misconducts, but that only caused the fans to become further enraged. When the controversy got heated, Lunatic-Hai gave a notice that they would release an additional announcement regarding the recruitment of the Seventh Man.
Before this announcement could be made, Claris posted a public explanation for the controversy on the Overwatch Inven website, and expressed his intention of giving up his recruitment for the team. And just under a quarter of a day later, Lunatic-Hai announced that both Claris and Munchkin will not be joining, instead, Gido will take their place.
First, as for Claris, they announced that in respect to his intention, his recruitment was canceled by mutual consent. And as for controversial Munchkin, they added an explanation for their previous decision, saying, ‘Munchkin has confessed his past misconduct before, and we have come to the conclusion that there is room for improvement for him; we did not choose him only for his gaming talent.’
In result, they announced that Munchkin will be canceling his recruitment as a means of self-reflection. Gido, who was placed 3rd in the recruitment test, will be joining Lunatic-Hai for APEX Season 3. Lunatic-Hai also mentioned that, reflecting upon this incident, they will be changing their way of recruiting to a more methodical process of recruitment and training.
