The 2022 LCK Spring Split will begin on Jan. 12. On opening day, DRX will face Liiv SANDBOX and T1 will face Kwangdong Freecs. In 2021, the first year of the franchise system, DWG KIA reigned as the champions of both Spring and Summer Splits. At the world championship, three LCK teams reached the semifinals, making it one of the best years in recent LCK history.
The LCK also underwent heavy changes during the off-season and a lot of teams returned with completely new rosters. The only teams that have at least three of the same players from last year are T1 and Fredit BRION.
2022 LCK Spring will last from Jan. 12 to March 20. The 10 teams will play 90 matches each across the double round-robin, best-of-3. Unlike past seasons, however, both rounds will be held from Wednesday through Sunday. In the previous seasons, the second round was held from Thursday through Sunday, but due to the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 schedule, changes have been made.
The top six teams during the regular season will advance to the playoffs with the top two seeded straight in the second round. In round 1, #3 seed will play #6 seed, and #4 will play #5. The playoffs schedule is yet to be announced.
The total prize money for the spring split is 400M KRW (~$335K), alongside a Mid-Season Invitational spot for the champion. The full schedule of the spring season is as follows.
