We're excited to present the second year of the Inven Global Awards (IGA). Voted by the editorial crew of Inven Global, along with some other experienced journalists and analysts, the IGAs celebrate the many strong facets of League of Legends in 2021 — the best teams, players, talent, and stories.
LoL Esports, at its core, is defined by the players and the plays that they make. While the difference between a jaw-dropping play and an epic fail is paper-thin, it’s these in-game moments by your favorite pro players that left your jaws hanging in 2021. We need your help in voting for the player who they think deserves the title the most, and the winners will receive the IGA Community Award.
Bdd's blind bubbles vs. Team Liquid
The group stage at this year’s World was a bloodbath if you weren’t in the LCK. Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong has always had that clutch factor when it came to high-stake matches, and with a Worlds quarterfinals ticket on the line, he channeled the power to make Zoe’s Sleepy Trouble Bubble seem like a targeted ability. Two of Bdd's bubble kills were blind too and the sequence was a defining moment of the 2021 season.
Danny's 1v4 Tristana vs. 100 Thieves
Evil Geniuses bot laner Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki’s uses Tristana’s late-game range to pixel perfection in this clip. Even when Ryze and Gangplank appeared behind EG’s backline through Realm Warp, Danny managed to keep his distance and outrange his enemies. Danny’s outstanding 1v4 eventually won the game for EG, pushing the series to a game 5 vs 100 Thieves.
GALA's Kai'Sa pentakill vs. FPX
Stakes are high in this clip, as it’s 1-1 in the 2021 LPL Spring finals between FunPlus Phoenix and Royal Never Give Up. Even with RNG having three dragon stacks and on the verge of soul point, this was pretty much anyone's game... until this moment. You can see RNG’s bot laner, Chen “GALA” Wei, dropping below 100 HP at one point, but he managed to pick up all the kills for the team and really turn the tides of the game in his team’s favor.
Inspired's Viego vs. Misfits
It’s game 5 in LEC Summer Playoffs between Rogue and Misfits. Rogue are slightly up in kills and gold, but Misfits hold Infernal Soul. From there, Kacper “Inspired” Sloma gets enough resets on Viego to pick up Pentakill, which completely changed the tides for Rogue and resulted in their 3-2 victory. Inspired is a player who’s currently considered one of the best players in the LEC, and this clip is just an example of his stellar performance in the 2021 season.
Viper's 1v3 Aphelios vs. FPX
FPX found themselves on the LPL finals stage again in the Summer, this time against EDward Gaming. FPX had a definite lead in terms of global gold, and EDG’s only saving grace lied with their bot laner, Park “Viper” Do-hyeon, the only player on EDG with a positive KDA that game. Viper was very calculated with his damage output, and was even bold to head straight into the enemy, melee-range to clean up the fight. The Aphelios slices through FPX and makes EDG's game.
