Original story:
On November 15, Counter Logic Gaming cut the entirety of its roster and coaching staff from the 2021 LCS season. CLG recently signed Thomas "Thinkcard" Slotkin and Chris "Croissant" Sun as the team's new head coach and strategic coach, respectively, and according to a report made on Dot Esports' League of Legends Free Agency show, are now interested in former Evil Geniuses jungler Juan "Contractz" Garcia. CLG Academy jungler Ryan "Keel" Keel was also released.
Around the same time CLG nuked its 2021 components, Evil Geniuses confirmed it was parting ways with Contractz, who spent the majority of the season as EG Academy's jungler before beginning to split an increasing amount of time in the LCS with starting jungler Dennis "Svenskeren" Johnsen.
Evil Geniuses has also parted ways with mid laner Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro in favor of promoting EG Academy mid laner Joseph "jojopyun" Pyun to the LCS, and most recently, announced the acquisition of Cloud9 support Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme. EG is also reportedly in talks to acquire Rogue jungler Kacper "Inspired" Słoma.
Of the former CLG players, Immortals is reportedly interested in signing AD carry Jason "WildTurtle" Tran. Top laner Finn "Finn" Wiestål has a contract with CLG through 2023, but was allowed to explore his options. A report by Upcomer states that Excel Esports is buying out Finn's contract from CLG following the confirmed retaining of jungler Mark "Markoon" van Woensel as well as the contract extensions of head coach Joey "YoungBuck" Steltenpool and AD carry Patrik "Patrik" Jírů.
Finn's official departure from CLG points towards his acquisition by XL, but the competitive futures of former CLG jungler Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen and support Andy "Smoothie" Ta are currently unknown, as are those of Eugene "Pobelter" Park and Tanner "Damonte" Damonte, the two mid laners who played for the team in 2021, and former assistant coach Brandon "Prymari" Kartman. Analyst Christopher "Prussian" Troeh has been retained in his same position for 2022.
Former head coach Galen "Galen" Holgate claims to have plans in the works, but was vague about the details in his announcement via Twitter.
