You can now enter the sideways in Fortnite Season 8, an area where you can fight NPCs and other players while searching for powerful new weapons, fancy purple chests, and cube crafting materials. Here is everything you need to know to get started with your interdimensional adventure into this new area.

What is the Sideways in Fortnite Season 8

When in the Sideways there is low visibility and decreased gravity throughout the area. The Sideways is filled with valuable loot, mythic weapons, and rare crafting materials. You can get to the Sideways through either a Sideways Anomaly or a Sideways Zone. 

The Sideways is the only place you can get Sideways rifles and miniguns. They are found in fancy purple chests.

You can enter Sideways zones and leave them at will by simply walking through the large opaque bubble on the island. Sideways Zones, don't have a set encounter. Instead, they are searchable areas that contain within them the highly coveted Sideways weapons.

Sideways Anomalies host Sideways encounters. You will have to quickly defeat waves of enemies. If you don't have a high enough kill rate, the Anomaly will close on you, leaving you with no reward. So make sure you are prepared for your encounter with the firepower to get the job done. There are three levels of rewards that you can earn, based on how well you eliminate enemies during your encounter.

Unfortunately, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is off to a rocky start, with the Sideways Anomaly areas already being disabled only a few hours into the new season. It is unclear when the Anomalies will be opened back up. In the meantime, you can still enter the Sideways Zone on the map in search of the new guns.
