Patch 11.17 introduced some more modest changes to Teamfight Tactics. Even the bigger changes of this patch, like those to Sentinels and Spellweavers, weren’t particularly game-changing. Instead, it was smaller, individual buffs and nerfs (see, Yasuo, Lee Sin, Draven, Heimerdinger) that really shook up the meta.
And even though it wasn’t listed in the latest patch notes, the mid-patch adjustments to the Hellions along with some nerfs those champions received knocked that comp completely out of the meta. Along those same lines, Heimerdinger has been kicked out of the meta, as has most of the power of the Abomination and Draconic comps. But those comps that have risen up to take their place include both familiar faces as well as a few new comps that have not been discussed in TFT Set 5.5.

This tier list will, therefore, focus on some of the more niche comps. Typically, these will be in the B or high C tiers, only jumping up to high priority if certain carries or traits get buffed. The upside, however, is that these comps are rarely contested, meaning players can usually get the needed units with ease.
Kayle comp (Redeemed/Knight)
Also known simply as a Kayle comp, this is built entirely around keeping that primary carry alive by protecting her with a massive, beefy frontline. That frontline will include two Redeemed units, Leona and Rell, and include six Knights, who will take advantage of 70 damage reduction for each instance of damage they take.
As to itemization, Guinsoo's is really the key item for Kayle. Guardian Angel is preferable as a defensive item as well, but an item like Banshee’s Claw could work as well. As for the non-Guinsoo’s offensive item, Deathblade, Giant Slayer, and even Bloodthirster work quite well for Kayle, but Hand of Justice is best.
While Galio is the ideal holder of all defensive items, you can consider switching them over to Garen, especially if you end up with any excess AP items (Morellonomicon, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Ionic Spark all work on Garen quite well in addition to standard defensive items).
If you are unable to get all six Knights (probably Garen will be heavily contested), add Jax to beef up the Ironclad buff or add two Mystics (Fiddlesticks and Lux if possible) for more defenses to protect Kayle.
Aphelios comp (Mystic/Rangers)
While very similar to the extremely popular (and effective) Revenant/Ranger comp, this Mystic/Ranger variant is particularly effective when others in the lobby are stacking spell users like Vel’Koz or Heimerdinger. This comp takes advantage of being able to easily incorporate several Mystics and Revenants to provide maximum tankiness, but one big advantage of this comp is also that it has a lot of late-game item flexibility.
Once you get your core items onto Aphelios (you can also swap in Runaan’s Hurricane or Spear of Shojin) any remaining AD/attack speed items will go nicely onto Akshan. If you get any tanky defensive items like Sunfire Cape or Warmogs, Volibear will take those on. Excess mana or AP items will go on either Fiddlesticks or Gwen.
There is also the possibility that you can swap Lux for Lulu and Akshan for Teemo if you manage to get him. That would probably come down to whether you are getting a lot of attack speed items that you can’t stash on Aphelios and not managing to hit a lot of Akshans.
Draven comp (Forgotten/Legionnaire)
Ironclad/Forgotten is still the most effective way to play a Draven comp, but there are some big advantages to eschewing the Ironclad in favor of doubling down on Legionnaires in some circumstances. First of all, this comp synergizes extremely well with hitting a single Spatula. If you manage to hit a Redeemed Emblem, you can bolster your frontline even more (Hecarim and Irelia are the prime candidates for the boost). Ditto if you manage to pick up a Skirmisher Emblem, which you can attach to Draven if there’s space.
Second, this comp can give you the option to hyper roll Hecarim, Aatrox, or Irelia if you land a lot of them in the early game. Just slam the defensive items onto whichever you are getting, or even just focus on defensive items until late game.
Third, the recent changes to Legionnaire (they now get attack speed as part of their trait bonus) means you don’t need any attack speed items for Draven. You can just slam Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge, Deathblade, or Giant Slayer and let the Legionnaire trait boost his attack speed by 75%.
Finally, this comp packs a ton of crowd control between the two frontliners of Rell and Riven, Viego getting to the backline, and Thresh’s hook. This can be a scary comp if it gets rolling with the right items.
