The global version of MIR4 by WeMade is nearing its launch. As a successor of the traditional Legend of Mir series, MIR4 has been trending in the Korean mobile markets. The return of a traditional MMORPG caught a lot of attention, making long-time gamers come back.
The new MIR4 will be available on mobile, in GooglePlay and iOS. Not only that, WeMade is preparing a PC launcher and getting it ready to service on Steam as well, allowing cross-play throughout the platforms. Global play is also possible as the global version will launch in 170 countries and 12 languages, and the game will be providing live translation to help the users communicate.
MIR4 will be launching on August 26. About the launch, MIR4 game producer 'Sung Jung-guk' tuned in and shared some extra information about MIR4.
Could you introduce the features of MIR4?
With the slogan, “From my battle, to our war”, MIR4 is an MMORPG that’s focused on training myself for wars in many ways. Those who win the war become kings, and that guild will gain absolute power and honor. However, this power doesn’t last forever.
MIR4 has diverse growing systems so anyone can become strong through time and effort. A small difference can change the outcome. The wars aren’t just fought with strength — strategies in the growth system and war tactics are a must.
How are the main characters and the game world?
MIR4 shares the main regions of The Legend of Mir 2 such as Bi-cheon castle or Sa-buk castle, but it’s a whole different story with different characters as there’s a 500-year gap. The main characters are princess Cheonpa who has the power of dragon and the Sarmati party that helps her. We also focused on the story details such as the black dragon who seeks the power of dragon, and Chogye who helps the black dragon so that players can focus on the game more.
What are the characteristics of MIR4 gameplay?
MIR4 is a mobile game that has a good balance of auto and manual control. The basic quests can be cleared through auto battles, and there are some passages that require some manual control. We didn’t have a specific auto-to-manual ratio that we aimed for while we balanced the game, but what we thought about the most was that.
We think it could be stressful for players who just enjoy gaming if they always need to be looking at their phones and controlling them. We provide the most convenient play if they want to enjoy the game in auto. To keep the game tense, we made a good mix of auto battles and passages where players require manual control.
You’re preparing Steam and an official PC launcher as well as GooglePlay and iOS. Is it much different when you control the characters from PC to mobile?
Although MIR4 is a mobile game, we provide a PC build and cross-play so that players can play the game in a better environment and quality. In the PC build, the specs are higher compared to mobile, but players can enjoy the game in better quality.
As for the mobile platform as well, the best options are set depending on the specs of the device. In high-end devices, the default options are set higher accordingly. The options can be controlled manually as well. We prepared the Steam platform for the users that aren’t accustomed to using PC launchers.
MIR4 put up good numbers before going global. How’s the global multiplay that’s new in the global version?
The servers will be divided into Asia, EU, and NA and will be serviced in 170 countries. As people from different countries will be meeting on a single server, we provide live translation into 12 different languages for better communication. This is the first step of the global service where players from different countries won’t have trouble communicating even if they were to battle in the same place.
The first battle will be different by server, but in the future, moving around servers will be possible, and a real global battle will be waiting for the users.
The developers are running the global version directly, so the players would have more faith in the quality of the game. Is that what you aimed for?
MIR4 is the first game since The Legend of Mir 3 in 2003 that has the original title of Mir. As much as we took a long time to prepare MIR4, many people worked hard to make it into a game that we would be proud of to release. Since the global service is also directly run by us, we’ll operate the game with quality.
What’s the difference between the MIR4 global version and the Korean version?
The content will be the same. And as it was on the Korean server, the balance between the classes or the range of convenience will be updated ASAP from the users’ feedback.
What was the main feedback after the CBT? Will it be updated in the official launch?
We’ll be providing MIR4 in 170 different countries at the same time. During the global CBT, we mainly checked if MIR4 could be played stably, or if there were any problems. According to the CBT, users from many different countries played on a very stable environment.
Besides that, we’re running final checks in the balance and game difficulty. We’ll do our best to create an environment where users could have fun playing MIR4.
Any last comments to the players who are waiting for MIR4?
I’m really excited to show MIR4 globally which succeeds the Mir series. Many players are enjoying the gameplay where they grow their characters, communicate with their guilds, and fight in diverse battles in the Korean server already. I believe you’ll be able to enjoy the same in the new global MIR4. We’ll be doing our best to prepare MIR4 so that the gameplay is fun and interesting. I hope you all enjoy it.
