As DWG KIA defeated Nongshim RedForce in the semifinals of the 2021 LCK Summer Split, Gen.G has secured their ticket to the 2021 LoL World Championship. Regardless of the results at the finals, DWG KIA has collected the most championship points, and therefore, will go straight to the Group Stage. Gen.G will at least head straight to the Regional Qualifiers Finals.
This year, the LCK will be sending four teams to the World Championship. The seeds will vary, however, depending on their placements in the playoffs. The Summer Champions, Championship Points leader, and the Regional Qualifier champions will head straight to the Group Stage while the runner-up at the Regional Final will participate from the Play-ins.
There are two tickets left to Worlds for the LCK. T1, Nongshim RedForce, Hanwha Life Esports, and Liiv SANDBOX are the remaining candidates. Depending on the result tomorrow between Gen.G and T1, the Regional Qualifiers Gauntlet will be determined.
The Regional Qualifiers will begin on August 31, with Hanwha Life Esports clashing against Liiv SANDBOX. The final team will be determined on September 1.
