Cloud9 has eliminated Evil Geniuses from the lower bracket of the 2021 League Championship Series Championship in a dominant 3-0 sweep. EG's 2021 season has come to an end, while C9 will continue its post-season in the lower bracket. 

Cloud9 came into the series off of a sweep of Golden Guardians in the first round of the lower bracket after Team Liquid handed the reigning LCS champion its first loss of the post-season in the first round of the upper bracket.

Evil Geniuses won its first upper bracket match against Dignitas, but after narrowly losing against 100 Thieves last week, EG found itself in the lower bracket fighting C9 for survival. 

The series was expected to be competitive, but EG looked stymied by a C9 that showed far more restraint than its roster previously had exhibited throughout the season. With a more measured pace and standard, conventional drafts, C9 cut through EG like butter in the sweep and has now won its last six games in a row. 

Evil Geniuses is the fifth LCS team to end its season. Counter Logic Gaming and FlyQuest finished in 10th and 9th place in the LCS Summer Split, respectively, and subsquently both missed the post-season. After losing to EG, Dignitas was eliminated in a clean sweep at the hands of Immortals in the lower bracket, while the same thing happened to Golden Guardians on the other side of the bracket after Cloud9 lost its first match of the post-season to Team Liquid. 

C9 will now wait  for TSM and Immortals to play on the other side of the bracket, with the winner moving on to face C9 while the loser will join EG, GG, DIG, FLY and CLG in watching the rest of the 2021 LCS season from the couch. The winner of C9 and TSM will qualify for the World Championship alongside Team Liquid and 100 Thieves, who will play against one another in the upper bracket this weekend to see who qualifies for the finals of the LCS Championship without losing a match.
