100 Thieves has punched its ticket to the League of Legends World Championship after defeating Evil Geniuses 3-2 in the 2021 League Championship Series Championship. 100 will move on to the next round of the upper bracket while EG continues its post-season in the lower bracket.
Due to its second place finish in the regular season, 100 Thieves was given a first round bye in the LCS Championship, where it would wait for the winner of the match between the 3rd seed and the 6th seed in the upper bracket. As the 3rd seed, EG proved it was superior to 6th seed Dignitas in a 3-1 win, sending DIG to the lower bracket while moving on itself to face 100 Thieves, which resulted in an epic five game series with stellar individual plays from both sides.
Ultimately, 100 Thieves was able to edge out the series and became he first North American team to qualify for Worlds 2021, as well as the fourth team overall.
League of Legends European Championship Spring Playoffs finalist Rogue was the first team to punch its ticket to China this fall, followed by 2020 world champion DWG KIA and shortly after, LEC reigning champion MAD Lions.
If 100 Thieves can win its next match against the winner of Team Liquid vs TSM, who play tomorrow, then it will complete an undefeated run to the finals of the 2021 LCS Championship and guarantee a top 2 seed to represent North America at the World Championship. If not, 100 will drop to the lower bracket while the rest of the lower bracket resolves.
First, Cloud9 will fight for survival in the lower bracket against EG, while Immortals will do the same on the other side of the lower bracket against whoever loses the upper bracket match between Team Liquid and TSM while the winner of the match guarantees a spot at Worlds 2021. The two teams left standing in the lower bracket will play for the final Worlds seed and will then face off against either 100 Thieves or the winner of TL vs TSM in the final lower bracket match.
The winner of the final lower bracket match will guarantee a top 2 NA seed for Worlds 2021 and will move onto the finals to face off against the only undefeated team of the LCS Championship to see who will win the title and secure the 1st North American seed for the World Championship in China this fall.
