Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl finally stops the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community from posting about the last Smash DLC

Esports Quiz:

#1: Which video game community writes this about 230483208 times a day? "What fighter do you think will be in the game? What other characters will be on the roster?"

Answer:

If you said "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" community, you are correct! But recently, this actually hasn't been about the last DLC. The Ultimate forums and groups have been entirely taken over by Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

Not even joking.

When Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was first announced, it wasn't really the characters or gameplay that the Smash community cared about. It was rollback netcode. This is essentially what helps online play have the same feeling and conditions of local play by basically "predicting" what the player's input will be.

In other words, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will have better online play than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community has predicted that, mostly based on this information, Nickelodeon's Smash knockoff has actual potential. While Smash players have mostly created memes about the strange-looking game or had fun guessing what the rest of the roster will behold, there has been serious discussions about Nick being the next big fighting game.

Smash Ultimate may only have until fall to keep the attention of its audience. Will they fix their bad internet? Will they actually support the esports scene? Will they announce a Fighter Pass Volume 3?

Probably not.

It's Nintendo's MO to literally ignore everything that Smash players want. This won't stop fans from supporting the game. But will some jump ship to play Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl?

Probably.

The characters revealed for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl include Helga from Hey Arnold, Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob Squarepants, Nigel Thornberry from The Wild Thornberrys, Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Reptar from Rugrats, and Powdered Toast Man from Ren & Stimpy.

While Smash players are begging for a small iota of nostalgia porn for the last DLC ("Please, Daddy Sakurai, please give us Crash Bandicoot because I sucked at his games when I was a kid!!!"), Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl's roster is entirely made up of nostalgia fodder. These are all characters from classic shows Millennials watched as kids.

While some Nick games sucked in the past (does anyone remember Nicktoons Racing?), Brawl is backed by Ludosity, a developer with plenty of experience ripping off Smash. And did I mention this game will have rollback netcode?

'Cause yes, the memes are funny...

Seriously, they're never-ending...

But there is NOTHING funny about Smash's online support. And Nickelodeon is coming for that EVO spot. You best believe it.
