Today, Blizzard made full use of their arsenal of chisels, buffers, and nerf hammers to further round out the massive balance changes that came out with the Probius patch several weeks ago.
The overall theme of the balance patch was taking the top tier heroes down a notch while amping up some of the weaker heroes a better shot in the arena. Ragnaros and Arthas received straight up nerfs to bring their ecstatic win rates back down to earth, while Cho’Gall, Murky, Probius, Tychus, and Leoric all got handsome buffs to push them closer to the top.
Varian and Tassadar have been continually tweaked since removing their primary build paths to adjust them to their new role, and this patch was no different. Tassadar’s shield duration no longer matches his cooldown, giving time for counterplay in between shields, but in return he got a buff to Leeching Plasma (lifesteal during shields).
As for Varian, the High King has fallen from grace since the removal of Warbringer’s stun. From the number one tank in the game to a weird assassin/tank hybrid, he hasn’t been that strong, even with the addition of armor in the last patch. The new changes are aimed at making Warbringer playstyles “hyper-mobile” while also adding some much-needed baseline health to support Twin Blades and Colossus Smash builds.
