On day 4 of the 2021 LCK Summer split, NS RedForce defeated Liiv SANDBOX 2-1. After dropping the first game of the series, NS were able to find their momentum in teamfights. The bot laner for NS, Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil, was able to weave tons of damage in teamfights, especially when he was playing Ezreal.
After the match, deokdam joined the press room at LoL Park for a post-match interview.
NS is on a two-match win streak. How do you feel about tonight’s victory?
We won both matches after dropping the first game, so there’s definitely room for improvement.
Why do you think that the team is always dropping the first game?
In both the draft and in execution, I think that we’re far from being perfect. Game 1 was especially messy in both regards, so we started off with a loss.
Your laning looks very shaky. What are some of the things that the team’s working on to improve?
I’ll need to figure out the problems in my laning through both solo queue and in scrims. I feel that I played well in scrims, but after tonight, there’s a lot to work on.
You had a very rough early game in game 2 as well.
In terms of the bot lane matchup in game 2, Jinx has priority against Ezreal. However, I knew that as long as I can scale on Ezreal, we’ll outscale them.
Speaking of Ezreal, you’re now on a three-game win streak on him. Do you feel more confident playing him in this patch?
I definitely feel more confident, but there are a lot of mistakes that I’m making, so I’ll still need to work on my early game.
This split, you gained a new mid laner and a coach. What can you tell us about them?
Gori has a great personality, so he gets along with us very well. In terms of his playstyle, he considers the laning phase to be very important, so he sometimes gets upset when he’s on a champion without priority. He’s a very competitive player.
In terms of Comet, he’s very good at finding the mistakes that we make in the laning phase and in teamfights. He’s also very friendly and amicable IRL.
NS’ next opponent is DRX. How do you think the matchup will go?
As long as we fix the mistakes that we’re making, we can definitely beat them. We’ll make sure to win to continue our streak.
Lastly, a word to your fans?
We’re definitely far from playing perfect. We’ll make sure to fix them to put on a better performance.
