Sentinels and Version1 clinched North America's two slots at the VALORANT Champions Tour International LAN in Iceland taking place from May 24th - 30th. Sentinels earned their slot by winning the upper bracket final against Cloud9 on Saturday, while Version1 defeated Cloud9 in the subsequent lower bracket final to earn their slot.
Sentinels were one of the favorites to advance to Iceland at this event. Led by substitute superstar Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, Sentinels won the VCT 2021 NA Stage 1 Masters event in March, and then most recently they won the Stage 2 Challengers 2 qualification tournament. Considering their recent dominance, Sentinels will be a key team to watch in the upcoming LAN.
Version1's qualification to the LAN comes as more of a surprise. V1 has been in the NA VALORANT mix for a while now, but beyond winning a C-Tier online tournament and taking fourth place at the Stage 2 Challengers 1 qualification tournament, they haven't done too much of note. Until today, that is, when they made a perfect run all the way through the losers bracket to reach Grand Finals. They were first sent to the losers bracket by none other than Sentinels. The two will have a rematch tomorrow, with the NA Stage 2 title on the line.
The VCT Stage 2 playoff Grand Final will take place starting at 1 PM PT on Sunday.
