Congratulations on advancing to the semifinals. How are you feeling?
I actually expected this series to go all the way because EDG is a strong team. We had a strong start in most games, however, so the match went much better than we thought it would. It was a huge relief for all of us!
Your Aurelion Sol play today was excellent.
I was always more than prepared to play Sol - we just didn't have enough reason to pull it out until now. The Worlds meta right now is very favorable for Sol. We had no reason to shy away from picking one of the best mids in the current game. I'm happy I had a good showing.
The Sol vs Ryze midlane matchup is happening quite frequently. Thoughts?
Sol is terrible in lane because he is way too easy to gank, but has the upper hand when it comes to anything that happens outside of lane. The two champions have different strengths and weaknesses that weigh up against each other very evenly.
You will be facing SKT T1 in the semifinals.
SKT was the last team we wanted to meet, but we are maintaining a positive mindset. We seem to always lose to SKT in the finals, so meeting them earlier might be a blessing in disguise. SKT tends to have a harder time in semifinals than in finals.
You will go up against Sang Hyuk "Faker" Lee. How are you going to prepare?
I always wanted to beat him but always ended up unsatisfied, sometimes by the slimmest of margins. But as long as we can win as a team, my losing to Faker is okay. Some say that Faker is not as strong as he used to be. I doubt that, although I would appreciate it if it were revealed to be true in our match. I do agree that the current Worlds meta better suits our team, but Faker is Faker. I have no intention of letting my guard down.
Do you have any surprise picks prepared?
Of course. We have a wide spectrum of surprise picks waiting to be summoned. We actually used some of them today - Fiora and Maokai. We probably should have saved them as well for our match against SKT, but oh well. We still have a good amount of cards left.
Tell us more about that Game 3 Fiora.
Smeb said PraY just randomly locked in Fiora, but that's not what actually happened. [laughs] Smeb was just trying to shift blame [in good fun, of course]. We didn't pick Fiora to troll; it was a prepared pick, although we didn't practice with it that much. We considered it to be situational but viable, and pulled it out because the Game 3 draft called for it. We probably should have kept it a secret for our upcoming series against SKT, but what's done is done.
Is there anything else you want to take home other than the trophy?
Not really. I just want the juicy first place prize money. 1.5 million dollars... with that kind of money, I could live the sweet life. Riches! Flamboyance! Who cares about anything else?
That was much more materialistic than I had expected.
All of my teammates also think the same way. The prize pool has increased by quite a bit. We want the largest cut. We want to win and become successful people.
Any last words to your fans?
Our fans told us that they were worried whether we would manage to make it through the group stage. We were scared as well, and are sorry for concerning our fans in such a manner. We will try our best to proceed to the finals. Please cheer a lot for us while keeping it down for SKT!
