A well-known Nintendo leaker has come out with possible news about Nintendo's Super Smash Ultimate plans for E3.
E3 is returning in June and will be an online format due to the ongoing pandemic. While this has killed a lot of the hype surrounding the gaming industry convention, Super Smash Bros. fans are still invested in the upcoming event due to the possibility of some news about Ultimate and its two remaining DLC characters within the Fighters Pass Volume 2.
A Nintendo leaker known as Samus Hunter has revealed that Nintendo will have a special Nintendo Direct planned for E3. According to a tweet, Samus Hunter was told that there are "big plans in store" for 2021 beyond the Direct. The plans will allegedly come to fruition on May 6.
"I heard that they are trying to organize some tournaments, one of Smash and one to publicize Splatoon 3, in a couple of weeks we will find out if the project will succeed. Obviously, the Treehouse events and the Direct are certain..." Samus Hunter continued.
Samus Hunter added an extra bombshell, although it was very vague. She tweeted: "But I have to say something extra... The train will make at least one more stop before reaching the end."
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is not exactly sure what this hints to but many believe it's possibly a secret additional DLC fighter coming to Fighters Pass Volume 2. A lot of fans have found hints at a seventh fighter on Nintendo's Australian website.
A Reddit user noted that every purchasable DLC has its own NSUID code within Nintendo's official website. The user found that every fighter from Piranha Plant to Byleth has codes that are ordered perfectly from 70050000008501 to 70050000008506. The Reddit user noted that the Mii costumes didn't follow the same URL pattern. In fact, there's a blank space between two of the codes, meaning it could be another Mii costume, stage, or even a new fighter.
Even if this fan theory is proven incorrect (as most of them have been in the past), Samus Hunter's leak hints that Smash news is coming at E3 no matter what. It may not be news of a third DLC fighter, but it could be the trailer for one of the remaining two Smash fighters.
Some believe the Smash fighter could be from the Zelda franchise, since big Zelda news is coming to E3 as well, according to Samus Hunter. Zelda hasn't had a new fighter in Smash since Toon Link, which was released back in the Brawl days.
For now, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans have no clue what the Nintendo Direct at E3 will reveal. But the fact that it's coming is exciting on its own. E3 is coming June 12, giving the community plenty of time to theorize what Smash news is coming this summer.
