With the 2021 LCK Spring Split Finals coming on Saturday, the head coaches of the two teams gave their predictions on how the match will go. DWG KIA head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun predicted a tight 3-2 victory while Gen.G head coach Ju “oDin” Yeong-dal called for either a 3-0 Gen.G win or a narrow 2-3 loss.
“When we lost to Gen.G, they had a very good draft, so I think the draft strategy will be very important in the finals,” said kkOma. “Gen.G is a very good team. I do think that we’ll win, but the game would be really interesting. I predict 3-2 in DWG KIA’s favor.”
From Gen.G, oDin said, “I think the macro would be very important. The draft would affect the game much as well. If we win, we’ll win 3-0, if we lose, it’ll probably be 2-3.”
In the regular season, the two teams met twice and each won once. DWG KIA stood at the top of the standings with a 16-2 (+23) record and Gen.G had a 13-5 (+14) record to place 2nd. They each swept Hanwha Life Esports and T1 in Round 2 of the playoffs to reach the finals.
The grand finals between DWG KIA and Gen.G will take place on Apr. 10, 5 p.m. (KST). If DWG KIA wins, it’ll be their second straight LCK championship. For Gen.G, it’ll be the first-ever championship for the organization.
The winner of the finals will head to the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational which will be held in Iceland in May. The winning league at the MSI will be granted an extra slot at the World Championship.
