"From now on, I will not act impulsively": Day6's Jae Park leaves Twitch after offending fans with sexual remarks

Day6's Jae Park has often struggled with cultural differences and English translations. And this time it seems it's become too much, causing him to halt all live streaming activities.

The K-pop singer was met with a lot of backlash when he made an inappropriate comment on a Twitch broadcast. Park was playing the survival game Rust when he decided to get a bit dirty. He called a character "sugar daddy" and then moved his character in a way that mimicked oral sex.

"Just look away," he joked.

While just meant to be a dirty joke, Park realized that he had offended many viewers. He came forward soon after with an apology in Korean, explaining that he was sorry "to those who were hurt."

But Park did more than just promise to do better. The K-pop star announced that he was shutting down his Twitch channel and would no longer be streaming for the time being. He told fans that it was a way to prove his sincerity.

"From now on I will not act impulsively, taking into mind the gravity of my words and actions,” he wrote.

Day6 Jae Park opens up about struggles with cultural differences

Last week, Park discussed his frustrations with having English and Korean audiences during a live stream. He said the "cultural differences" have often led to people getting offended. In the KpopStarz interview, Park seemed to believe the offended people were choosing to purposely misinterpret him.

"Whenever I speak in English, the direct Korean translations are often made to be problematic numerous times. If you choose to mistranslate what I say and purposely try to create problems from it, you might want to stop watching my streams for your own betterment," Park said

Since the sexual jokes on Rust, it seems that Park has changed his tone about this ongoing situation with his Twitch channel. Now it seems that Park has taken responsibility for offending people and is hoping to "become a better person" for his fans.

Last month, Day6's agency, JYP Entertainment, stated that the band was going to make a comeback as a full group. The K-pop phenomenon had split after 2020's "The Demon" dropped when a member went on hiatus to focus on their "mental well-being." A release date for the project is not yet announced.
