Queer Women of Esports (QWE) in a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making competitive gaming a more inclusive and equitable place. Founded in the summer of 2020 by Dr. Lindsey Migliore, QWE aims to address the lack of queer and BIPOC individuals, as well as marginalized genders in the gaming industry by providing training programs, mentorship, networking events, scholarships, and educational resources in a safe environment.
On February 27, 2021, QWE will be hosting a twelve-hour event to celebrate the official launch of their non-profit. The event will take place on Twitch, followed by a networking session on Discord. Limited merchandise from our partner Ateyo will be available on launch day. The goal of the event is to provide a judgment-free environment to gain relevant industry skills and connect with like-minded individuals in the space.
QWE will host esports experts that will be providing education on the industry and market, covering topics ranging from, “How to Find your Dream Career in Esports” to “Extending the Esports Invitation: Creating an Inclusive, Profitable Fan Base”.
In conjunction with educational panels, QWE will be discussing their second Mentorship Class. In partnership with AimLab, QWE will be launching its second Mentorship Class in the summer of 2021. Building on the success of the first round, which included mentors from Riot, Misfits, Polygon, Team Liquid, Method, and more, new mentees will be matched with industry leaders to advance their own careers while improving the esports landscape.
