On Feb. 5, DWG KIA top laner Kim “Khan” Dong-ha picked Fizz in top lane in DWG KIA's match against Liiv SANDBOX in the 2021 League of Legends Champions Korea Spring Split and claimed a win with the champion.
It was the first time Fizz was picked in the top lane in 1406 days. The last time Fizz appeared in the top lane was back in 2017, played by MVP’s Kang “ADD” Geon-mo against SK Telecom T1's Heo "Huni" Seung-hun. ADD lost that match. The last win was on the same day, played by Huni.
Khan’s rune selections were Press the attack, Triumph, Legend: Tenacity, Coup de Grace paired with Biscuit Delivery and Time Warp Tonic. As Fizz’s abilities have an advantage in surviving, Khan’s spell choice was Ignite and Teleport, giving up Flash. His legendary item selection was Triforce. At the end of the game, he had Triforce, Wit’s End, and Frozen Heart with Ionian Boots of Lucidity.
Recently, champions that hadn’t been appearing on the Rift have been showing up more often than before. Just two weeks ago, Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon picked Udyr for the first time in 5 years in the LCK, which became a popular pick in the league.
