On Nov. 20th, SANDBOX Gaming announced that Kim “Croco” Dong-beom joined their LoL roster as the jungler for the team.
Born in 2000, he started his professional career in January of 2019 with Winners (a Challengers Korea team that is now disbanded), then found himself a new team as a jungler for HyFresh Blade. While he did get subbed in during the 2020 CK Spring split, he didn’t have many opportunities to start for his team in the Summer split.
According to an inside personnel at SB, “While he’s a young prospect who has great mechanics and makes bold plays, it’s hard to say that his level of macro is quite at the level we want him to be. From what I heard, his favorite champion is Lee Sin.”
Via SB’s official Twitter, they commented, “We are pleased to announce the signing of jungler 'Croco' Kim Dong Beom for the 2021 season. We hope you support and look forward to us in the future.” Due to racist comments made on his stream, SB’s starting jungler, Kim “OnFleek” Jang-gyeom, has been internally disciplined by being benched for Round 1 of the 2021 Spring split. This news of acquisition will surely have the fans' hopes up on whether or not this young talent can fill the shoes of OnFleek.
