League of Legends organization Misfits announced Wednesday that it's signed former pro player and analyst Martin "Deficio" Lynge as Director of Misfits EU to lead the team's EU initiatives.
"I’ve always followed the team closely, and share the same vision as Ben [Spoont, Co-Founder, Owner & CEO of Misfits]. Over the past 2 years, I’ve gained a lot of invaluable knowledge on things that work and don’t work within a team, which I will utilize here," Deficio wrote.
Since retiring as a player, Deficio has taken several management jobs, the latest one being with Origen before its rebranding to Astralis. With Deficio as its GM, Origen reached the finals of 2019 LEC Spring and was part of Europe's Rift Rivals 2019 winning trio.
Deficio will have the challenging task of turning Misfits from a mid-tier team to LEC contender. In 2020, the team placed 6th in Spring and 8th in Summer, missing the playoffs both seasons. Still, the organization has pride and glory on its shelf and is most known for coming second in EU LCS Summer 2017 and then reaching Worlds quarterfinals of the same year — a 3:2 series which almost saw them defeat tournament favorites SK Telecom T1.
Misfits is yet to announce any changes to their main roster, which currently consists of:
- Danny "Dan Dan" Le Comte (top)
- Ivan "Razork" Martin (jungle)
- Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten (mid)
- Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup (ADC)
- Petr "denyk" Haramach (support0
