This weekend, four teams of 20 star players will enter the VALORANT servers in the LG UltraGear™ Face-Off. With players boasting portfolios in Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Fortnite, each team features star influencers who will showcase the best that their game has to offer in the VALORANT scene.
Whether you follow the Overwatch esports scene or not, you’ve likely heard of Félix “xQc” Lengyel. The storied and notorious streamer has transitioned from being a well-loved professional player to becoming one of the top gaming influencers in the world.
xQc originally started off his professional gaming career in Overwatch. Starting off as a small player in the scene, playing for organizations such as Denial eSports, and winning numerous weekly and monthly events, xQc blew up in popularity during his time with the Dallas Fuel for the OWL’s inaugural season.
After a series of run-ins with the league, xQc retired from professional play after the Inaugural Preseason to pursue streaming full-time, where he is now one of the biggest personalities on Twitch. With over 700K followers on Twitter and over 60K concurrent viewers on his daily streams, xQc has become one of the faces of the streaming platform and gaming in general.
But even while retired from professional Overwatch, xQc has represented his home country of Canada in three iterations of the Overwatch World Cup, even being named the T-Mobile MVP of the 2017 World Cup. The Canadian also briefly makes infrequent reprisals in smaller events, as well as showmatch events in other games.
As such, while xQc’s professional background comes from Blizzard’s class-based shooter, his gaming experience extends far beyond that. Now as a variety streamer, xQc’s portfolio includes Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and now even VALORANT. He has participated in multiple iterations of Twitch Rivals and frequently plays with top professional players and influencers alike.
The jack-of-all-trades all-star influencer, xQc will bring more than just his Twitch chat’s energy into the server.
TimeTheTatman is now one of the most well-known personalities in esports, and possibly even gaming, often compared to and seen alongside fellow streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.
His Twitch channel is reportedly the #12 most-watched overall channel on the platform, and his streams can pull in upwards of 50K viewers daily. Additionally, his YouTube channel currently has over 2 million subscribers, featuring daily uploads of highlights from his stream.
Being a variety streamer, TimTheTatman has played a multitude of competitive games on-and-off-stream, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty. Having been an avid gamer since the age of 13, Tim considers himself a fan of the FPS genre.
During his career, Tim competed in many open and invite-only competitive events. Just recently, he competed in the RØKKR Royale 2, a $100,000 USD event run by the Minnesota RØKKR, who represent their city in the Call of Duty League.
Considering his experience in Overwatch and Counter-Strike, alongside his streaming career primarily in FPS games, it makes sense for VALORANT to be the next step for TimTheTatman.
With his tactical and aiming prowess from his years of Call of Duty experience on and off-stream. as well as the general variety of information he’s learned from the platitude of games he’s streamed for his audience, TimTheTatman could be one of the underdogs of the Face-Off.
Dimitri “Greekgodx” Antonatos is one of the most notable faces on Twitch, and if you were introduced to livestreams from stream highlight videos, he may have been one of the first personalities you’ve seen.
With nearly 50 million channel views and well over a million followers on his Twitch account, his fanbase is among one of the largest on the gaming platform, and the circulation of clips and highlights from his streams on other platforms only makes that number greater.
His famously rambunctious stream intermixes interaction with other streamers and chat alongside gameplay, and his personality makes him adored by millions of fans across YouTube and Twitch.
While a gamer at heart, Dimitri was also one of the first major streamers on Twitch to gain a major following from his non-gaming streams, which were previously seldom seen on the platform. Now with Twitch endorsing the concept, adding the section now known as Just Chatting, Greekgodx has become one of the most well-known names on the site.
The journey of Greekgodx is one that gamers can look up to. Alongside the rapid and exponential growth his channel has seen in the past four years, Dimitri has been publicly documenting his self-improvement.
Since 2018, he’s streamed and tweeted his weight loss and improvements to his mental health, and has pledged to help others that were in the same situation that he was in two years ago.
With the drive and the energy of his community behind him, Greekgodx is key to leading his teammates through to the finals of the Face-Off.
Streaming is a job that many dream of, but few are able to convert into a full-time pursuit. The process requires months and even years of commitment, and that of itself can be personally taxing on multiple levels.
That required commitment didn’t stop Maria “ChicaLive” Lopez however, who has grown into one of the biggest streamers on Twitch and one of the top Fortnite players in the world.
Dubbed the “#1 Female Fortnite Player”, ChicaLive started playing long before her streaming career, introduced to gaming by her parents. She soon started streaming after, but her gameplay in Fortnite caused her channel to explode.
Her gameplay alongside her streaming commentary made her one of the top streamers in the section, so much so that she would later go on to sign with Team SoloMid in 2018 as one of the organization’s Fortnite players, and the first female player signed to their Fortnite team.
With nearly 1 million subscribers on her YouTube channel and well over a million on her Twitch channel, she remains notable as one of the best players in the Fortnite scene and one of the largest gaming personalities on both platforms. Even after Fortnite’s major peak, she remains hugely popular, being nominated for the Shorty Award for Twitch Streamer of the Year in 2020.
ChicaLive’s experience in competitive Fortnite makes her one of the most formidable opponents that some may underestimate. Technically skilled in strategy and aiming, she stands as not just an inspiration for aspiring Female streamers and players, but to aspiring gamers everywhere.
