League of Legends Esports fans have been waiting for the clash of titans that would be this weekend’s series between Schalke 04 and MAD Lions. Fighting for the last ticket to Worlds 2020, MAD has defeated Schalke 3-1, ending the so called “Miracle Run”.
Opening up the series, we saw exciting clean macro from Schalke 04 Esports, snowballing them through victory, absolutely stomping the MAD Lions. Favoring the non-believers, MAD turned the matches into a series, steamrolling S04 into a reverse stomp on game two, then three, then four.
With an unbelievable run from their 4% chance of making it to the League of Legends World Championship, reaching quarterfinals by one-shotting every single opponent on their way was indeed a Miracle Run, and even though it is over, it has had an immense impact in every single region, with players like JDG’s Kanavi being compared to “God Gilius”, and being flattered by it.
In Spring Split, MAD Lions made it to third place in the standings, showing the rookie team was here to dominate the European League of Legends scene.MAD Lions will be the last team to represent the LEC in the World Championship, joined by Rogue, G2 Esports, and Fnatic.
