Day 33 of the 2020 LCK Summer split came to a conclusion. With DAMWON Gaming and T1 taking another match victory under their belt against Hanwha Life Esports and SANDBOX Gaming respectively, the day ended without any notable upsets.
DWG, a team that continues to perform better by the day, took a landslide victory against HLE. Despite HLE’s attempts to shake things up by subbing in the rookies, CaD and Yeongjae, DWG was too much for them to handle.
With DWG’s victory, they are now sitting at 11-2, with +20 points in the standings. While there’s only one win discrepancy between DWG and the first place team, DRX, they are ahead by 5 points, and continue to threaten the 1st place spot in the standings. If DWG manages to take 2:0 victories in all their upcoming matches, they will be at +30, potentially breaking SKT T1’s record of having +29 points in the regular season.
In the second match of the day, T1 defeated SB 2:0 and continued their climb in the standings. The hyped rookie mid laner, Clozer started for the team once again, and was able to perform quite superbly against SB.
SB pulled out the ‘Sona-Lux’ bot lane in game 1, which is something that’s gained quite a bit of traction in the LEC and the LCS. However, it didn’t look too great in today’s match, as not only did the players seem quite inexperienced with the champions, T1 was also able to get the composition they wanted to dictate the game their own way. Game 2 also panned out in a similar fashion, as Cuzz’s Rek’sai was able to open up the map by killing every enemy he saw. With a dominating 2:0 from T1, they are now closely behind the top 3 teams of the Summer split, while widening the gap between them and the 5th place team, Afreeca Freecs.
