On the 24th (KST), day 27 of the 2020 LCK Summer split came to a conclusion. With DAMWON Gaming taking down SANDBOX Gaming 2-0 in the first match of the day, Afreeca Freecs also took down SeolHaeOne Prince 2-0 as well, with AF closing out game 2 in under 16 minutes.
In game 1 between DWG and SB, DWG closed out the game in their unique dominating fashion. With a winning teamfight that was centered around Canyon’s Nidalee, they took down the rift herald to get themselves further ahead. By the 20 minute mark, there was a 12,000 gold lead in favor of DWG. With the very first pentakill scored by a jungler in the LCK by the end of game 1, DWG led the series 1-0.
DWG was even more aggressive in pushing SB into a corner in game 2. Nuguri was able to show a clear difference in skill, by even having a 50+ CS lead at a very early point in the game. WIth leads being taken in the bot lane as well, DWG snowballed the game very quickly to close out the series against SB.
AF took the lead in the series against SP in the second match of the day. SP pulled a unique pick in the mid lane, Kassadin, which they paid the price for heavily. Since there was no priority in the mid lane, AF’s jungler, Spirit was able to freely invade the enemy jungle to snowball the game. While SP had champions like Yuumi and Illaoi, champions which need a lot of time to hit their power spikes, they were unable to hold out until those power spikes came through.
Game 2 went in favor of AF as well. A huge lead came from AF’s bot lane, where the bot lane of AF, Mystic and Ben, were able to not only survive the enemy’s gank, but also get the return kill on Kalista-Taric. With many leads coming in from AF all over the map, they had a 10K gold lead by 12 minutes. With the game coming to an end in the 16 minute mark, they proved that they’re also able to utterly dominate their opponents, just like how DWG did in the first match of the day.
