The games took longer than everyone expected, but the Flash Wolves came out on top after defeating G2 Esports in IEM Katowice 2017.

The IEM Season 11 World Championship that took place in Katowice, Poland has concluded after a long final day. G2 Esports and the Flash Wolves defeated the ROX Tigers and H2K respectively in the semifinals, and then the Flash Wolves defeated G2 Esports in the finals to become the champions of IEM Katowice 2017.

In the first semifinal matchup, G2 Esports triumphed over the ROX Tigers. Although the ROX Tigers took the first game with ease, G2 evened the match as Gangyun "Trick" Kim demolished the ROX Tigers. Although ROX had a lead at the start of Game 3, Yongmin "Mickey" Son's Azir made several questionable plays that eventually allowed G2 to make a comeback and advance to the finals.

In the second semifinal showdown, the Flash Wolves advanced to the Finals after a series of spectacular games against H2K. Although H2K took the first game after an hour-long match, the Flash Wolves made a decisive turn-around on the back of Ekko and Syndra. The final game was decided at the 42-minute mark as the Flash Wolves took down Baron, and most of H2K's base afterwards.

The finals also went well for the Flash Wolves, as they flipped G2 Esports' early lead into a game win. Together with Yitang "Maple" Huang's Syndra and Lihong "MMD" Yu's Poppy, the Flash Wolves took the second game as well. In the end, with a score of 2-0, the Flash Wolves became the champions of IEM Katowice 2017.
