Late Friday, June 19th, FlyQuest announced that their Academy AD Carry, Brandon "Mash" Phan, would move up to start for their League of Legends Championship Series team this weekend, replacing longtime veteran, Jason "WildTurtle" Tran. FlyQuest went 1-1 last weekend, losing their opening match against Cloud9, but beating Immortals in their second.

Mash has been playing League competitively for nearly a decade, but hasn't seen much LCS time in the past few years. He played on the Gold Coin United team with Colin "Solo"Earnest and Lucas "Santorin" Larsen in 2017, and even had Hong "MadLife" Min-gi as his support. Since then, he played for Echo Fox and then took a stint in Oceania, playing for Mammoth in 2018. At the end of 2018, he was a large part of the off-season LCS in-houses, and was even featured in our coverage of them as a notable player that impressed the current LCS talent.

Mash has been playing for FlyQuest Academy since the start of the year, but didn't have tremendous success with the team this Spring, as they finished the season in 8th with a 7-11 record. However, FlyQuest announced he has been working hard and "showing up," leading them to give him the spot for this week. They haven't provided details on how permanent this roster shift is, however, and last Spring, they were experimental with their roster, swapping Solo and former LCS Top Laner, Omran "V1per" Shoura, in and out throughout the back half of the Split.

You can watch WildTurtle play in FlyQuest's game today at 3pm as they take on TSM Academy.
