On the 19th (KST), Day 3 of the 2020 LCK Summer split took place at LoL Park, Seoul. DAMWON Gaming was able to take down SANDBOX Gaming with a set score of 2-0 to take their first victory of the split, while DragonX was able to take down Gen.G 2-1 and was able to defeat the runner-up team of the Spring split.
In game 1 of the DWG vs SB series, SB attempted to gank DWG’s bot lane early but with no success, they failed to get a lead from it. DWG’s bot lane was able to come out ahead shortly after, as they were able to kill GorillA’s Thresh under their turret. DWG’s teamwork seemed tightly knit, while SB’s champions looked like they were all over the place, so the tides turned quickly in DWG’s favor and was able to close out the game in 24 minutes.
DWG quickly snowballed the set in game 2 as well. With an unexpected, but a successful gank by Canyon on Trundle at level 2, they were able to score first blood. While SB seemingly fought back by successfully killing Ghost’s Syndra in the bot lane, many skirmishes went in favor for DWG, and with a score of 17 to 6 for DWG at 15 minutes, the game was already in DWG’s favor and they were able to close out the game in under 24 minutes.
In the 2nd series of the day, DRX faced off against Gen.G. DRX were the first ones to pull the trigger, as they attempted to gank Rascal’s Ornn, but Ornn was able to take down Doran’s Wukong by even burning Flash. However, DRX did not stop their proactivity around the map, as not only Chovy’s Twisted Fate and Pyosik’s Olaf was able to kill Ornn, but DRX’s bot lane also successfully dove Gen.G’s tier 2 turret to quickly snowball the game, and destroy Gen.G’s Nexus in 29 minutes.
Gen.G was able to even up the scoreboard in game 2 of the series. Clid’s first target was in the bot lane. Gen.G was able to chase DRX down all the way to DRX’s tier 2 bot turret, but with a clutch Flash-Primal Surge by Pyosik’s Nidalee, Deft’s Aphelios was able to survive with a sliver of health. However, Gen.G was ahead in every lane, so with a lot of vision control in DRX’s jungle, they were able to kill Keria's Yuumi in the jungle. With that snowball, they were able to take DRX’s tier 2 mid turret with the Rift Herald, and a decisive teamfight win near the baron pit led to Gen.G evening up the scoreboard 1-1.
In the last series of the match, DRX and Gen.G traded blows, with Rascal’s Kled and Pyosik’s Olaf leading the frontlines of the skirmishes. However, a teamfight in front of dragon pit is what tipped the scales, as not only did DRX come out on top of the teamfight, but also successfully took Baron Nashor and was able to take their 2nd victory of the Summer split.
