PUBG Corporation and Oath Gaming to Donate $100,000 USD to COVID-19 Relief
SANTA MONICA, CA - MAY 26, 2020 - Oath Gaming claimed victory this past weekend as sixteen of North America’s best PUBG teams faced off in the PUBG Continental Series (PCS) Charity Showdown for their share of the $200,000 USD prize pool and donation fund. Each team battled it out for $100,000 USD based on their performance, with an additional $100,000 USD being donated to the winning team’s charity of choice to support COVID-19 relief.
The tournament marked the beginning of PUBG esports’ competitive schedule in 2020, with similar online-regional tournaments taking place in the future as part of PCS. Playing host to a collection of memorable moments, the PCS Charity Showdown brought out the region’s most commanding teams across the twenty matches spanning four consecutive days. Fans can relive the action by viewing the official VODs on the PUBG Esports YouTube channel.
Despite a slow start to day one of the tournament, Oath Gaming showcased an ability to adapt and bounce back from a tumultuous start as they steadily accumulated points. Leaning into the team’s extensive experience at PUBG esports’ highest level, the four-man team was firing on all cylinders heading into the final day of the PCS Charity Showdown. From there, Oath Gaming displayed one of the most dominant single-day performances in recent history - placing first in four of the five remaining matches. The team’s consistent performance throughout the tournament, paired with a commanding final four matches, earned Oath Gaming $25,000 USD and an additional $100,000 USD that will be donated to a charity of their choosing.
Starting this week, the North American Group Stage for the next PUBG esports event - PCS1 - will begin. PCS1 features a $200,000 USD prize pool and will culminate with the Grand Finals on June 25-26 and July 2-3.
