The following was sent to Inven Global as a press release.
Team Liquid is proud to announce the Teamfight Tactics Liquid Galaxy Qualifier (LGQ) presented by Jersey Mike’s Subs, in partnership with Riot Games, beginning this Saturday, May 16. The LGQ will see 2,000+ participants battle for two seats at the Teamfight Tactics: North America and Oceania Final. From there, two players will go on to compete at the global Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship for a $200,000 prize.
The LGQ is a tournament of many firsts. It’s the first qualifying event for North America and Oceania, as part of Teamfight Tactics’ first global competitive circuit, and Jersey Mike’s -- a long-time partner of Team Liquid -- will be the first presenting sponsor of a competitive TFT event.
Jersey Mike’s and Team Liquid will provide branded online check-ins for participants, special deals for entrants, and more activations to be streamed live at the Liquid Galaxy Final on July 18.
Teamfight Tactics is an auto-battler game that’s both light-hearted and deeply complex, and has attracted 80 million players since launching in June 2019. TFT has been the center of a lively community of content creators, competitors grinding to the top of the in-game ladder, and fans who enjoy a competitive thrill similar to watching a poker player plan, bluff, and execute to be the last one standing.
The Liquid Galaxy Qualifier begins Saturday, May 16, with a final tournament held Saturday, July 18. The LGQ is an eight-week, open sign-up tournament, which will see 256 participants compete at each weekly event.
The winner of each event will secure a seed in the final tournament. After eight competitive weeks, the winners will converge at the Liquid Galaxy Final, which will be live-streamed on twitch.tv/teamliquid and supported by Twitch Front Page. More details and sign-up info can be found at https://liquidtactics.gg/
The LGQ will be the latest in a long series of tournaments Team Liquid has hosted for communities across all esports genres. Team Liquid has recently hosted a weekly VALORANT Academy series, two online VALORANT showcases (one of which featured DJ Zedd and WNBA star Aerial Powers), and two of the biggest online Smash tournaments in history: The Box (with 8,000+ entrants) and the Soaked Series Invitational (4,000+ entrants and a $10K first-place prize).
