Hanwha Life Esports looks to revamp their League of Legends roster, as they announced many changes to the squad for the upcoming 2020 LCK Summer Split.
First, they announced the departure of two of their players. On the 8th and the 10th respectively (KST), HLE announced via Twitter that they’ve negotiated the early termination of contract with Kang “Tempt” Myung-gu, and Jeon “Zenit” Tae-gwon.
HLE had one of their worst seasons to date. With barely avoiding getting relegated last Summer, they’ve attempted to rebuild their roster around their Mid Laners, Tempt and Lava. The rebuilt roster looked promising, as they brought on promising players such as a former World Champion, Lee “CuVee” Sung-jin and the innovative former Support player from Griffin, Son “Lehends” Si-woo.
While the team did perform well, to the point where they were even called "The Korean G2", in the very early stages of the 2020 LCK Spring, they failed to perform as the Split went on. Although they’ve created upsets against teams higher in the standings such as DragonX and Gen.G, HLE concluded the regular season of the LCK in 8th place, barely managing to avoid the 2020 LCK Promotion Tournament and having to fight for their spot in the LCK.
Following the announcement of the departure of Tempt and Zenit, HLE announced the call up of their trainee, Lee “DuDu” Dong-ju, who will be joining the main roster as the second Top Laner for the team. With the addition of fresh blood into the roster, they look to take this time in the off season to rebuild their roster and come back stronger for the 2020 LCK Summer Split.
